To publish a single HTML file generated by Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, or another AI tool, place that file directly into your website's document root and name it index.html. LiteSpeed serves it immediately. You do not need to configure build scripts, runtime environments, or web server handlers for standalone HTML, CSS, and client-side JavaScript.
Your target directory depends on the address you want to use. For your primary domain, upload the file to public_html. For a subdomain, upload it to the folder named after the subdomain in your home directory (for example, ~/landing), which sits next to public_html, not inside it. If your DNS already points to your Flashcloud hosting, an automatic SSL certificate issues within about five minutes.
Find the right folder for your domain
A common mistake when launching a single-page site is uploading the file to the wrong directory. Your account has a home directory, but the web server only serves content placed inside specific document roots. For a full breakdown of account paths, see our guide on which folder is my website root.
- Primary domain: Place
index.htmldirectly insidepublic_html. - Subdomains: When you create a subdomain using the Subdomains tile in the portal, cPanel creates a folder at your account root:
~/subdomain-name. It does not live insidepublic_html. - Addon domains: Look in the folder assigned when you created the addon domain in the portal.
When you open a brand new document root, you will usually see a few system files and folders already in place: .htaccess, php.ini, .user.ini, cgi-bin/, and .well-known/. Leave these alone. Never delete the .htaccess file that cPanel generated, because it contains server directives for your domain. Upload your index.html alongside these existing files.
Unlike complex PHP projects like those covered in our guide on installing CodeIgniter or full frameworks like in Laravel routes not working on shared hosting, a static AI page does not require routing rewrites to a separate public directory. Your index.html sits right at the top level of the document root.
Upload your index.html file
You can get your AI-written code onto the server using any of three methods.
Method 1: File Manager
This is the fastest method if you already have the file saved on your computer, or if you want to paste the code directly from your AI chat.
- Log in to
portal.flashcloud.comand select your hosting service. - Click the File Manager tile.
- Navigate to your document root (such as
public_htmlor your subdomain folder). - Click Upload in the top toolbar to upload your local
index.htmlfile. - Alternatively, click + File, name it
index.html, select the new file, click Edit, paste the raw HTML provided by your AI assistant, and save changes.
Method 2: FTP
If you prefer using an FTP client like FileZilla or Cyberduck, plain FTP and explicit FTPS both work on our servers.
- Open the FTP Accounts tile in your service dashboard.
- Create an FTP user. The full username follows the format
username@yourdomain.com. - Set the account directory to match the document root of the site.
- Connect through your FTP client using your server hostname or domain, your full FTP username, and your password.
- Upload
index.htmldirectly into the folder.
Method 3: The AI Agents connector
If you connect your external AI tool (such as Claude, ChatGPT, or Cursor) to your hosting account using our Model Context Protocol connector, you can write the file directly to your hosting space without opening the portal.
Configure the connector under AI Agents (/ai-agents) in the portal sidebar using the URL https://mcp.flashcloud.com/mcp. When your agent issues a files_write command, ensure it targets your specific document root path. Note that the connector enforces an individual file size limit of 256 KB. If your AI assistant generated a heavy page with inline images or huge embedded SVGs that exceed 256 KB, upload the file through File Manager instead.
Updating your site
AI assistants frequently need small revisions. When you ask your assistant to fix styling or update text, you will usually receive a fresh block of HTML. You do not need to delete the site to update it.
To update the site, open the existing index.html in File Manager, click Edit, select all old code, paste the replacement code, and save. If you are uploading a replacement file from your desktop via File Manager or FTP, allow the client to overwrite the existing index.html. LiteSpeed serves updated static files immediately.
If your visitors do not see the updates right away, the browser may be caching the static file locally. Test the page in a private browsing window or perform a hard refresh in your browser.
DNS and SSL certificates
Static files work immediately on the server, but your visitors can only reach them securely once DNS points to Flashcloud.
If you register or point a domain to our nameservers, our systems request a free Let's Encrypt SSL certificate automatically. This issuance happens roughly five minutes after your domain resolves to the server IP. If you open your site in a browser before the certificate has been generated, your browser will display an SSL warning. Wait a few minutes for the automated validation to run, reload the page, and the secure HTTPS connection will activate.
When to contact support
If your file is sitting directly in the correct folder, named in lowercase as index.html, and your browser still returns a 403 Forbidden or 404 Not Found error after DNS has resolved, check file permissions in File Manager. Standard permissions should be 0644 for files and 0755 for directories.
If permissions are correct and the site still fails to load, reach out to our team. Open a ticket in the portal under Support. You can find your Support PIN under Account if we need to verify your account to inspect your document root.
