When you bring a domain to Flashcloud, you point it at our nameservers so we can answer "where does this domain live?" for the rest of the internet. The nameserver pair you use depends on what you're hosting.
Shared and WordPress hosting
Use these two nameservers:
ns1.flashcloud.comns2.flashcloud.com
These are backed by Cloudflare, which is our DNS provider for shared and WordPress hosting. You get Cloudflare's anycast network — fast lookups from anywhere in the world, DDoS scrubbing, and short propagation windows when you change a record.
VPS and Dedicated Servers
VPS and Dedicated Server customers get their own per-server nameserver namespace. The pattern is:
ns1.vmXXX.flashcloud.hostns2.vmXXX.flashcloud.host
vmXXX is your server's hostname — for example, vm112.flashcloud.host. You'll find the exact pair on your service page in the portal under Information.
The reason we run a separate namespace per VPS is so you control your own DNS surface, independent of other customers' servers.
Why Cloudflare?
For shared and WordPress hosting, we chose Cloudflare because:
- Anycast routing — DNS queries hit the nearest Cloudflare edge instead of a single origin in one datacenter.
- DDoS protection at the DNS layer — your domain stays resolvable even when something nasty is happening upstream.
- Short propagation — most record changes are visible to the world within a minute, not the legacy 24–48 hour wait.
- Optional proxy mode — you can toggle the proxy per domain from the Cloudflare CDN page in the portal and Cloudflare will sit in front of your site, caching static assets and shielding your origin. Look for the Cloudflare CDN page on your service page.
Pointing your domain
If your domain is registered with Flashcloud, we set the right nameservers automatically when you order hosting. There's nothing to do.
If your domain is registered elsewhere, you'll need to update the nameservers at your current registrar to the pair above. The change takes anywhere from a few minutes to a few hours to fully propagate.
For domains we manage, you can change nameservers at any time from your domain detail page in Domains → click the domain → Nameservers.
Power-user note
