If you've opted into the new Meridian cPanel theme and can't find Cron Jobs, the full Zone Editor, MultiPHP INI Editor, Git, Awstats, or JetBackup, that's expected. Meridian's sidebar only surfaces its redesigned sections: Dashboard, Websites & Apps, Softaculous Apps Installer, WordPress, Email, Files, Databases, Security, Performance. The classic-only tools still exist on your account, they're reached differently. Use the top search (cmd+K) to try searching for a tool by name, or click Classic cPanel Theme to switch back to the full Jupiter layout where every tool sits on its own icon.
Use the search instead of hunting for a menu item
Meridian's top search bar (open it with cmd+K or click into it directly) is the fastest way to jump to a tool. Try searching for a tool by name, such as cron, zone editor, softaculous, jetbackup, git, or awstats. This is a fast path if you only need to touch a classic tool once and want to stay in Meridian otherwise.
Switch back to Classic when you need several classic tools
If you're doing something that touches multiple classic-only tools in one sitting, for example setting up a cron job while also editing DNS records, it's usually faster to switch themes outright. Click Classic cPanel Theme (the button sits where you found Try the new Meridian theme originally). You'll land back on the Jupiter layout with the full icon grid: Cron Jobs, Zone Editor, MultiPHP INI Editor, Softaculous Apps Installer, Git Version Control, Awstats, and JetBackup 5 all visible directly, no search required. You can switch between themes as often as you like.
What each of these tools actually does
A quick reference for what you're looking for once you find it:
- Cron Jobs: schedule recurring commands on your account. Note the portal also has a Cron Jobs tile under Services that covers the same job creation without touching cPanel at all, see setting up cron jobs for the full syntax reference and common patterns.
- Zone Editor: the same DNS record editing surface as the portal's DNS Zone Editor tile, reached from inside cPanel via search or the Classic theme.
- MultiPHP INI Editor: PHP runtime limits like
upload_max_filesize,post_max_size, andmemory_limit. This is separate from switching PHP versions, which the portal's PHP Version tile handles. See getting around cPanel: the tools that matter for more on this split. - JetBackup 5: browse and restore from your automatic nightly backups.
- Git Version Control: create and manage Git repositories tied to your hosting account.
- Awstats: traffic and visitor statistics.
Why Meridian hides them by default
Meridian's Dashboard and Websites & Apps views are built around the tasks most people actually do most often: checking SSL status, fixing DNS, managing a WordPress site, reviewing disk and bandwidth usage. The classic tools didn't disappear, they were left out of the redesigned navigation because they're used less frequently or already have a portal equivalent.
If a tool you expect to see is missing from both the search results and the Classic layout, or a switch between themes doesn't stick, open a ticket from the portal under Support. Support tickets go to real people, not a phone queue.
