To connect FileZilla to your Flashcloud account, grab your FTP hostname, username, and password from an FTP account in Services → your hosting → FTP Accounts in the portal, then enter them into FileZilla's Quickconnect bar or Site Manager along with port 21. Once connected, your site files show up in the right-hand pane under your home directory.
What you need before you start
Download FileZilla Client (not FileZilla Server) from the official filezilla-project.org site. You'll also need an FTP account. Your hosting comes with a primary FTP account tied to your main domain, but you can create additional accounts scoped to specific folders from the FTP Accounts tile in the portal (Services → your hosting → FTP Accounts), or from the FTP Accounts tool in cPanel.
For each account you'll have:
- Host: usually your domain name, or the server hostname shown next to the FTP account
- Username: the full FTP username, often in the form
user@yourdomain.com - Password: set when you created the account
- Port:
21for standard FTP
Quick connect (one-off)
The fastest way to test a connection is FileZilla's Quickconnect bar at the top of the window:
- Enter your host in the Host field
- Enter your FTP username and password
- Enter
21in the Port field - Click Quickconnect
FileZilla will negotiate the connection and, once authenticated, show your local files on the left and your server files on the right. Drag and drop files between the two panes to upload or download.
Saving the connection in Site Manager
Quickconnect doesn't save your settings between sessions. For a connection you'll reuse, set it up in Site Manager instead:
- Go to File → Site Manager (or press
Ctrl+S/Cmd+S) - Click New Site and give it a name
- Under the General tab, set Protocol to
FTP - File Transfer Protocol - Enter your Host and set Port to
21 - Set Encryption to
Require explicit FTP over TLSif your connection supports it, otherwise leave it on the default - Set Logon Type to
Normaland enter your username and password - Click Connect
Site Manager stores the site so you can reconnect with two clicks next time, without retyping credentials.
Fixing a failed connection
If FileZilla times out or refuses the connection, work through these in order:
- Wrong password: check the account's password, or set a new one from the FTP Accounts tool, then update it in FileZilla
- IP blocked: if your IP was temporarily blocked after failed login attempts, use Unblock My IP in the portal
- Passive mode issues: if the connection authenticates but directory listings hang, go to Edit → Settings → Connection → FTP → Passive Mode in FileZilla and make sure it's selected (this is the default and works with most networks and firewalls)
- DNS not pointed yet: if you just set up hosting and the domain isn't resolving, connect using the server hostname instead of your domain until DNS propagates
If you're not sure which FTP account or password to use, check the FTP Accounts tile in the portal for a list of active accounts.
When to contact support
If you've confirmed your credentials are correct and passive mode is enabled but the connection still fails, or you suspect your account was locked for a reason other than failed logins, open a ticket from Support in the portal.
