Turning Cloudflare off for one domain

Last updated

IN SHORT

To turn Cloudflare off for a single domain in Flashcloud, open the Cloudflare CDN page under Goodies in the portal and switch the Proxy toggle off on that domain's card. Your site keeps serving normally, sending visitor traffic directly to your hosting server instead of routing through Cloudflare's edge.

Turn off the Proxy toggle for that domain on the Cloudflare CDN page in the portal, under Goodies in the sidebar. Find the domain's card and switch Proxy off. Your site keeps serving normally - it goes straight to your hosting instead of passing through Cloudflare's edge first.

There's no cloudflare.com dashboard involved anywhere in this. Flashcloud manages Cloudflare entirely from inside the portal. The proxy toggle you see there is the only control that exists. There's no separate account to log into and no DNS record-level orange cloud to click.

Why you'd turn it off

A few real reasons this comes up:

  • You're debugging something and want to rule out whether Cloudflare is involved, so you go straight to origin.
  • A feature or setting isn't behaving the way you expect and you want to isolate cause.
  • You want to see raw response headers or timing from your server without Cloudflare's edge in between.

If you're seeing a redirect loop, check the SSL/TLS mode setting before turning the proxy off. See Cloudflare SSL/TLS modes: Full vs Flexible on Flashcloud before you flip the main switch.

What turning proxy off actually changes

With Proxy off, traffic to that domain goes directly to your hosting server. You lose, for that domain, while it's off:

  • Cloudflare's caching layer (the Purge cache button and caching toggle stop mattering since nothing is being cached).
  • The security controls on that domain's Cloudflare settings: Under Attack mode, the security level slider, Hotlink Protection, Browser Integrity Check.
  • The AI Crawlers panel's allow/block rules for search crawlers, AI assistants, and model training bots.
  • Always Use HTTPS and Automatic HTTPS Rewrites at the edge.

This only changes whether Cloudflare sits in front of the traffic. For a full rundown of what each toggle on that page does when the proxy is on, see Every Cloudflare setting explained.

Turning it back on

Flip the same Proxy toggle back on whenever you're ready. Traffic will route back through Cloudflare's edge for that domain.

If you can't find the toggle

Check the portal map to confirm you're looking at the right page. If a domain still doesn't show the Proxy switch, open a ticket from Support in the portal and a real person will look at your account and sort it out.

Common questions

Will my site go down if i turn off the proxy?

No, your site stays online. Traffic bypasses Cloudflare's edge and routes directly to your hosting server.

Do i need to log into cloudflare.com to disable it?

No, there is no separate Cloudflare dashboard to manage. Flashcloud controls Cloudflare entirely through the portal under Goodies, with no DNS orange clouds or external accounts involved.

Why is my site stuck in a redirect loop?

Check your SSL/TLS mode settings first. A mismatch between Full and Flexible modes often causes redirect loops before you ever need to turn the main proxy switch off.

What happens to my security rules when the proxy is off?

They stop running for that domain immediately. You lose Under Attack mode, the security level slider, Hotlink Protection, Browser Integrity Check, and AI crawler blocking until you switch the proxy back on.
