If you're outgrowing your current plan — running out of storage, hitting CPU limits, or just want more room to grow — upgrading takes a couple of clicks and a single prorated payment.
How to upgrade
- Go to Services and click your hosting service.
- Click the Upgrade tile.
- Pick your destination plan from the list. We sort by price and show "+$X/mo more" deltas so it's easy to compare.
- Pick a billing cycle. We show a live "Due today" preview as you click around.
- Confirm.
The upgrade is instant. Your existing files, databases, email, and DNS all stay intact — we change the underlying plan tier without touching content.
Prorated billing
When you upgrade mid-cycle, we calculate the difference between what you've already paid and what the new plan costs for the remainder of your current term:
- The "Due today" amount is the prorated cost of the new plan from now until your next renewal date.
- Your next renewal date doesn't change — you keep the same anniversary.
- After upgrade, future renewals are at the new plan's price.
The math: per-day price of new plan × days remaining − unused portion of old plan × days remaining.
What stays, what changes
After upgrade:
- Your domain, files, databases, email, DNS — unchanged.
- Resource limits (storage, CPU, memory) — increased to match the new plan.
- Plan name in the portal — updated.
- Billing cycle — keep the same one, or change it as part of the upgrade.
What you don't have to do:
- Re-upload files.
- Re-create email accounts.
- Re-issue SSL certificates.
- Touch DNS.
Upgrade vs ordering a new service
A few cases where it makes more sense to order a new service than to upgrade:
- Different service type — going from shared hosting to VPS, or from VPS to dedicated. These are different products, not tier changes. Order the new service, migrate, then cancel the old.
- Splitting one site across multiple services — if you want to run a heavy WooCommerce store on its own VPS while keeping a marketing blog on shared hosting, those are separate services.
For both cases, our Free Transfer service can move content between services.
Already on the top plan?
If you're on our highest shared-hosting tier and need more, the next step up is usually a VPS. Open a ticket with our team and we'll talk through what makes sense based on your current resource usage.
Downgrades
The Upgrade tile only shows higher tiers — we don't currently support self-service downgrade. If you want to move to a smaller plan:
- Open a ticket with our team.
- We'll quote any prorated credit and confirm the destination plan.
- We schedule the downgrade — typically at the next renewal to keep billing simple.
Downgrades have practical limits: if your current usage exceeds what the smaller plan offers, the move would bring you over quota. We'll flag that during the conversation.
Power-user note
Upgrade is implemented at the WHMCS module level — it changes tblhosting.packageid + billingcycle + amount atomically without touching nextduedate. The actual server-side resources (CPU, memory, disk quota) update within minutes. If you upgrade and don't see new limits within an hour, open a ticket.
