Yes — and you don't have to transfer the domain to us if you don't want to. Two options, both fine.
Option 1: Keep the domain at your current registrar
Just point its DNS at our hosting. No transfer, no fees, no waiting period.
For step-by-step instructions, see Pointing your domain to your hosting account. The short version:
- Easy mode: change the domain's nameservers at your current registrar to ours (
ns1.flashcloud.com/ns2.flashcloud.comfor shared/WP, or your VPS-specific pair). - Advanced mode: leave nameservers alone and point an A record at your hosting's IP.
This works regardless of where the domain is registered. You keep control of the registration there; we serve the website and email here.
Option 2: Transfer the domain to us
If you'd rather have everything in one place — domain registration, hosting, email, billing — transfer the domain in. The process takes a day or two and adds one year to the registration as part of the transfer fee.
See Transferring a domain to Flashcloud for the full transfer-in process.
Which should I pick?
- Just point DNS if your current registrar is fine and you don't want to deal with transfer logistics. Or if you're not sure yet whether you'll stick with us long-term.
- Transfer in if you want everything under one account, want to consolidate billing, or want to take advantage of free WHOIS privacy (we offer it free; some registrars charge).
You can always transfer later — no need to decide upfront.
Combining with hosting
Whichever option you pick, ordering hosting is the same:
- Sign in (or create an account) and order hosting.
- On the order form, choose I have an existing domain.
- Enter your domain name.
- Complete checkout.
Then come back to Domains (if you transferred it in) or Services → your hosting → make sure DNS is pointed correctly.
"Free domain with hosting" doesn't apply to existing domains
The free-domain bundle is specifically for new registrations made through us. If you bring an existing domain, the bundle doesn't apply — but you also don't need it; the domain is already registered.
If you want a separate, additional free domain alongside hosting, you can register a new one and set it up alongside your existing domain (e.g., bring yoursite.com for hosting, register a free .shop for promotional purposes).
What if the existing domain has DNS records I want to keep?
If your existing domain has email at another provider, third-party services pointed at it, or any other custom DNS:
- Easy mode (nameservers): when you switch nameservers to us, those records vanish from authoritative DNS unless you replicate them at our nameservers first. Don't do this without a plan — set up matching records here, then switch nameservers.
- Advanced mode (A record only): if you only update the A record at your existing DNS provider, all other records stay where they are. This is the safer path when you have complex DNS.
If you're not sure, just open a ticket — we'll review the existing DNS and walk you through the safe migration.
