Getting your EPP code from GoDaddy, Namecheap, and other registrars

The EPP code (also called an auth code or transfer code) is a password-like string your current registrar generates on request. You need it to start a transfer to Flashcloud. It's not emailed to you automatically at most registrars, you have to go find it or request it, and a few registrars email it separately once you ask. Below is where it hides at the major ones.

Before you go looking, confirm the domain is unlocked at the current registrar. Most registrars won't reveal the EPP code, or won't let it be used, while transfer lock is on. See unlocking a domain for transfer if you need the exact toggle location.

GoDaddy

Sign in to GoDaddy, go to your Domain Portfolio, and click the domain. Under Domain Settings, find Transfer Lock and switch it off first. Then look for Authorization Code or Get authorization code. GoDaddy typically emails the code to the account's registered contact rather than showing it on screen, so check the inbox for the domain's WHOIS contact email a few minutes after requesting it.

Namecheap

In the Namecheap dashboard, go to Domain List, click Manage next to the domain, and open the Sharing & Transfer tab. Unlock the domain there first. The EPP code is retrieved by clicking Get EPP Code, which sends it to the account email on file rather than displaying it directly.

Google Domains / Squarespace-managed domains

Domains formerly on Google Domains now run through Squarespace. In the Squarespace domain panel, open DNS Settings for the domain, then look for a transfer or lock section. Unlock the domain, then request the transfer code, which is emailed rather than shown inline.

Other registrars: what to search for

Every registrar puts this in a slightly different spot, but the pattern holds. Sign in and look for a section called Domain Manager, My Domains, or Domain Settings. Inside that, look for wording like:

• Authorization Code
• Auth Code
• Transfer Code
• EPP Code

If you can't find it in the UI, search the registrar's help docs for "EPP code" or "auth code," or open a support ticket with them directly. Every ICANN-accredited registrar is required to provide it on request; they can't refuse.

Once you have the code

The EPP code alone doesn't start anything, it's only the key. To actually move the domain, sign in to Flashcloud and go to Marketplace → Domains, enter the domain name, and paste the code when prompted. Common snags

• Code doesn't arrive - check spam, and confirm the WHOIS contact email is current. If you've had it wrong for a while, update it at the current registrar before requesting the code again.
• Code is rejected - most EPP codes expire after a set window (often 15-30 days depending on the registrar) or become invalid after one failed transfer attempt. Request a fresh one if it's been sitting unused.
• Domain is still locked - double-check the lock toggle actually saved. Some registrars require a confirmation email click to finalize the unlock.

When to contact support

If you have a valid, unexpired EPP code and the transfer still won't start or gets stuck in a pending state on our end, open a ticket from Support → New ticket in the portal. It's a real person, not a bot, and they can check the transfer status against what the registry is reporting.
