Ask your connected AI assistant something like "What's the WHOIS status on mydomain.com?" or "When does mydomain.com expire and who's the registrant?" It queries the domain's WHOIS record directly and answers in the chat.
This works once you've connected an AI assistant to your Flashcloud account.
What you can ask
The connector exposes a WHOIS lookup alongside other read tools, so you can combine questions naturally:
- "Show me the WHOIS record for mydomain.com."
- "Is ID protection on for mydomain.com?"
- "What are the nameservers for mydomain.com right now?"
- "List all my domains and their expiration dates."
Because the assistant also has separate access to your DNS zone and domain list, you can ask it to pull both and compare them. For example, asking "does the WHOIS registrant match what's on file for my account?" has it run both lookups and line up the results for you.
Why this beats a manual lookup
A generic WHOIS lookup tool only tells you what's publicly published for a domain, which is often obscured by privacy protection. Because the assistant is connected to your Flashcloud account, it can also see account-side detail your public WHOIS record won't show, like whether ID Protection or registrar lock is currently enabled. For account-level changes, like editing registrant contact details, you'll still do that from the domain's card in the portal.
If you haven't connected an assistant yet
WHOIS lookups work with any assistant connected over the Model Context Protocol. See connect an AI assistant to your Flashcloud account for the general walkthrough, or jump straight to a specific guide: connect Gemini or connect Cursor. The connector URL is the same for every assistant: https://mcp.flashcloud.com/mcp.
Reviewing or revoking access
Go to Goodies → AI Agents in your portal to see each connected assistant's active status and when it last connected, check exactly what permissions it has, and disconnect one if you no longer want it connected.
When to open a ticket instead
If WHOIS shows something you didn't expect, like a registrant email you don't recognize or a registrar lock that's off when it shouldn't be, don't rely on the assistant to fix it. Open a ticket from Support in the portal so a real person can verify the change and secure the domain if needed.
