Moving off GreenGeeks doesn't mean touching your site's files yourself or risking downtime during the switch. Submit our Free Transfer request from the portal sidebar, hand over your GreenGeeks cPanel access in the form, and a migration specialist copies your files, databases, and email to Flashcloud while your GreenGeeks site keeps serving visitors.
If you've already paid ahead on your GreenGeeks plan, that's a separate billing question. Once your Flashcloud order is in place, ask billing about it through a support ticket.
What to share, and where
If your GreenGeeks account uses standard cPanel access, the handoff is straightforward: your cPanel URL, username, and password. If your access is anything other than a standard cPanel login, say so in the notes field.
The full form walkthrough, including exactly what each field is for, is in Requesting your Free Transfer, step by step. Short version: fill in your destination domain, pick GreenGeeks as the current provider, drop in the panel login, and add any notes a specialist should know, like a staging subdomain to skip or a plugin that's picky about server moves. If you'd rather not put a password in the form, open a support ticket instead and ask for a secure way to share it.
What stays live during the move
Your GreenGeeks hosting keeps answering requests for your domain while your specialist is copying things over. The cutover to Flashcloud happens once that copy is complete and confirmed ready.
Email: bundle it or move it yourself first
If you run mailboxes on GreenGeeks under the same domain, you have two paths. Let the migration bundle your mail in with the rest of the transfer, or set up your mailboxes on Flashcloud ahead of time and sync your messages over IMAP before you touch MX records. The second route gives you more control over timing if you can't tolerate any gap in mail delivery. Once your MX records point to Flashcloud, incoming mail starts landing here immediately, so don't flip that switch until you've confirmed the mailboxes exist and are synced.
If you're moving a domain too
Moving hosting and moving domain registration are two different actions. If your domain is also registered at GreenGeeks and you want it under Flashcloud, that's a separate transfer-in request from the portal's Marketplace, not part of the Free Transfer form. If you're new to Flashcloud entirely and picking up hosting for the first time, the full onboarding sequence is covered in Your first day with Flashcloud: a setup checklist.
When to open a ticket
If your GreenGeeks site uses something unusual, a custom database setup, a non-standard app, or a control panel that isn't plain cPanel, mention it in the notes field when you submit the Free Transfer request rather than waiting for something to break. A specialist reviewing the ticket can flag anything that needs extra handling before they start moving files. If you're unsure about anything else in your move, ask through a support ticket before you cancel anything at GreenGeeks.
