To move a domain from Wix to Flashcloud, unlock it and get the authorization code from your Wix account, then start the transfer from Marketplace > Domains > Transfer one in in your Flashcloud portal. Type the full domain and click Check eligibility first: we'll confirm the domain qualifies for transfer before you touch anything at Wix. A free year gets added to the domain's remaining registration when the transfer completes, and WHOIS privacy is included at no charge.
Before you start
If the domain is close to its renewal date, renew it at Wix first: a transfer that's still pending when a domain expires can get messy, and it's simpler to start with a fresh renewal window.
Also confirm the contact email on the domain is one you actually check. Wix, like most registrars, sends transfer confirmation messages to the registrant email on file, and if that inbox is stale, the transfer stalls.
Step 1: unlock the domain in Wix
Domains are locked by default at every registrar to stop unauthorized transfers, and Wix is no exception. To unlock it:
- Sign in to your Wix account and open the Domains section (usually under account settings or a dedicated "Domains" dashboard, separate from your site editor).
- Select the domain you're moving and open its settings.
- Find the registrar lock (Wix labels it a transfer lock) control, sometimes labeled "Lock," "Transfer Lock," or shown as part of a "Transfer domain" panel. Wix's interface changes from time to time, so if you don't see it immediately, check under a "Transfer" or "Advanced" tab for the domain.
- Turn the lock off.
If you can't find the lock toggle, search Wix's help center for "unlock domain" or contact Wix support directly and ask them to unlock it for a transfer. See Unlocking a domain for transfer for what to do if a registrar won't cooperate.
Step 2: get the authorization code from Wix
The authorization code (also called an EPP code or transfer code) is a unique string tied to your domain that proves you're allowed to move it. In Wix, this is typically generated from the same domain settings panel, often under a "Transfer" or "Get authorization code" option. Wix may email the code to you rather than displaying it directly, so check your inbox (including spam) if it doesn't appear on screen right away.
Copy this code exactly. It's usually a short alphanumeric string and is case-sensitive.
Step 3: start the transfer at Flashcloud
With the domain unlocked and code in hand:
- Sign in to your Flashcloud portal and go to Marketplace > Domains.
- Click Transfer one in (also reachable from the main Domains page via the Transfer option).
- Type the full domain name you're transferring.

DNS: set it up before the transfer finishes
If your domain is currently pointed at Wix's hosting or Wix's DNS and you're also moving hosting to Flashcloud, get your DNS records in place before the transfer completes so there's no gap where the domain resolves nowhere. The straightforward path is pointing the domain at Flashcloud's nameservers, which hands us all DNS management, mail records included. If you're only moving the domain and keeping your site on Wix for now, you can leave DNS as-is until you're ready to migrate hosting separately.
If something goes wrong
A stuck or rejected transfer is usually one of two things: the domain is still locked, or the authorization code doesn't match (copy it again, watching for trailing spaces). If the eligibility check in the portal flags an issue, it'll tell you which applies.
If you've unlocked the domain and confirmed the code but the transfer still won't go through, open a ticket from Support > New ticket in the portal. A real person will look at the specific rejection reason.
