The top 7 web hosts that include a free domain name (free for life) in 2026

Six of these seven hosts give you a free domain for one year. One keeps renewing it free for as long as you stay.

Share

A free domain sounds like a gift. Then the first renewal notice arrives, and the gift comes with an invoice.

"Free" on a hosting page can mean three different things. It can mean free for 12 months, or free on certain plans only. Rarely, it means free for as long as you stay.

This list sorts seven hosts by that difference. We read each host's own pricing and domain pages in November 2026 and noted the exact wording. Where a page didn't say, we've said so.

The short version: who gives you a domain, and for how long

Flashcloud is the only host here that renews your domain free while your hosting stays active. Bluehost, Hostinger, DreamHost, HostGator and IONOS each include a domain for the first year. GoDaddy does too, though the one-year limit sits in a footnote.

Small details separate the first-year hosts. Hostinger and DreamHost bundle domain privacy, while Bluehost includes it on higher plans. HostGator applies a $17.99 domain fee if you cancel hosting in year one.

Hosting prices come from each provider's own plan pages, and .com renewal prices from each registrar's own domain price list, checked in November 2026. Intro rates change often, so confirm at checkout.

What "free for life" should actually mean

A domain is an annual rental, not a one-time purchase. You register it for a year or longer, then renew before it expires. A free first year only delays the first bill.

A true free-for-life deal passes three tests. The renewal costs $0, privacy stays included, and the domain sits in your name, not the host's.

The math is simple. A .com costs $16.99 a year at Flashcloud's standard domain rate. Ten years of renewals comes to $169.90, which is the amount a free-for-life deal keeps in your pocket.

Here's what a .com costs over five years at each host once the free year ends, using each registrar's own renewal price.

Names also get harder to find. Verisign's Q2 2026 industry report counts 401.6 million registrations, including 166.6 million .com names. Once you land a good one, you want to keep it. Our guide to choosing a domain name helps you find one worth keeping.

Privacy matters too. Domain privacy hides your name, address and phone number from the public record. Some hosts charge for it after year one, and our domain privacy guide explains when it's worth having.

Ownership has a paperwork side as well. ICANN's WHOIS reminder policy requires registrars to remind you yearly to keep contact details current. Outdated details can lead to suspension, so use an email address you actually read.

1. Flashcloud: the domain that renews free

Full transparency: Flashcloud is our product, so we're not neutral here. We've tried to treat the other six hosts the way we'd want to be treated.

Flashcloud is the only host in this lineup with no "first year only" clause. The domain registers at $0.00 with eligible hosting. Every renewal after that is free too, as long as your hosting stays active.

The rules are plain. Annual and 3-year plans qualify, and monthly plans don't. One domain per plan is free, as a new registration or a transfer from another registrar, and any further domains cost $16.99 a year.

Standard extensions qualify automatically at checkout, including .com, .net and .org. The full list also covers .co.uk, .eu, .us, .ca and several others. Premium extensions like .io and .ai are charged at standard rates.

What the free domain covers

Registration is free, and so is every renewal while hosting stays active. WHOIS privacy is included. The domain is registered in your own name.

If you leave, the domain is yours to keep. It stays registered until its current expiry date, then renews at standard pricing or transfers out. Our explainer on the full domain lifecycle shows what happens from registration to deletion.

Plans and pricing

Flashcloud has three shared tiers: Start, Grow and Scale. Start costs $2.79/mo on the annual term and renews at $9.99/mo. It includes 25 GB of NVMe storage and one website.

Grow is $3.79/mo, renews at $11.99/mo, and adds 50 GB with unlimited websites. Scale is $8.49/mo, renews at $22.99/mo, with 100 GB.

The 3-year term works differently. It carries a slightly higher first-year rate but a lower locked renewal, $8.99/mo on Start. The annual term wins year one, and the 3-year term wins on total cost after that.

Renewal rates sit next to intro rates on the full pricing page. There are no setup fees. Domain, SSL, email, backups, CDN and migration are in the price.

Strengths and trade-offs

Pros: The domain and its privacy are free for life, and the renewal rate is published before you buy. You also get a free starter website built by a person, free migration, and a money-back guarantee that works anytime. Support replies average under 15 minutes.

Cons: Flashcloud launched in 2026, so it's newer than every other host here. The free domain needs an annual or 3-year plan, and the servers run Linux only today.

Who it suits

Flashcloud suits small business owners who want one decision instead of eight. It also fits professionals who would rather not manage a separate domain bill. The team brings nearly two decades of hosting experience, and the brand is still building its review base.

Independent scores so far are strong. HostAdvice gives it an overall expert score of 9.3 out of 10. Bitcatcha rates it 5 out of 5, with a 2.4ms average response time.

2. Bluehost: a familiar name with a first-year domain

Bluehost is probably the name you've already heard. It's positioned as a beginner-friendly WordPress host. The free domain is a real perk, but it comes with a clock.

What the free domain covers

The domain is free for one year on Starter, Business and eCommerce Essentials. You need a 12-month or 36-month hosting term. Premium domains are excluded.

You must redeem the offer within 90 days of purchase. You can register a new domain or transfer one you already own. After year one, the domain renews at the standard rate, which Bluehost's domain page lists as $23.99 a year for a .com.

Plans and pricing

On a 36-month term, Starter costs $3.99/mo and renews at $9.99/mo. Business costs $6.99/mo and renews at $13.99/mo. eCommerce Essentials runs $14.99/mo and renews at $21.99/mo.

Domain privacy is free for the first year on Business and eCommerce Essentials. The Starter plan doesn't list it.

Strengths and trade-offs

Pros: Bluehost lets you bring an existing domain and still claim the offer. The brand is familiar, which reassures first-time buyers. Three plan levels give you room to grow.

Cons: The free domain lasts one year only, and the 90-day redemption window is easy to miss. Privacy on the entry plan isn't listed, and a .com renews at $23.99 a year after the offer ends.

Who it suits

Bluehost suits first-time WordPress site owners who value a recognizable name. It also works if you already own a domain and want it moved in. Just diary the first renewal so it doesn't surprise you.

3. Hostinger: privacy included, domain free for year one

Hostinger competes hard on entry pricing. It's a good fit if you watch every dollar. The domain is free once, though.

What the free domain covers

Hostinger's hosting plans include a domain marked "free for 1 year." The FAQ says every plan except Single qualifies when you order for one year or longer. Its domain price list shows a .com renewing at $19.99 a year.

Domain privacy is built in on every plan at no extra cost. That's a genuine plus, since some hosts charge for it. Hostinger's own domain guide puts typical .com, .net and .org prices at about $10 to $20 a year.

Plans and pricing

On the 48-month term, Premium costs $1.99/mo and renews at $10.99/mo. It includes three websites and 20 GB of SSD storage. Unlimited costs $2.79/mo, renews at $16.99/mo, and adds unlimited websites with 50 GB of NVMe.

Cloud Startup costs $7.99/mo and renews at $25.99/mo. The page shows only the 48-month term. Prices were checked on November 4, 2026, during a seasonal sale, so expect them to move.

Strengths and trade-offs

Pros: Entry pricing is low, and privacy is included on every plan. Plans run on NVMe storage at the higher tiers. The 48-month term locks in a long intro rate.

Cons: The domain is free for the first year only. You need a long commitment to reach the lowest price. Renewal rates are noticeably higher than the intro rates.

Who it suits

Hostinger suits budget-focused bloggers and freelancers who are comfortable committing for four years. Plan to budget for the domain from year two. A multi-year plan helps if you'd rather lock the rate in.

4. DreamHost: free private registration

DreamHost is an independent, long-running host. Its domain deal is simple and includes privacy. It's still a first-year offer.

What the free domain covers

Annual and multi-year plans include a free one-year domain registration. Free private registration comes with it, which protects your contact details. DreamHost's domain page lists the .com renewal at $21.99 a year.

Plans and pricing

The Web Hosting Launch plan costs $2.89/mo on a yearly term. It renews at $10.99/mo after the first year.

DreamHost also sells DreamPress, its managed WordPress product. That one starts higher, at $14.99/mo for the first year. For most small sites, the shared Launch plan is the relevant comparison.

Strengths and trade-offs

Pros: Privacy is included with the domain. The brand is independent rather than part of a large holding group. The yearly term keeps the commitment shorter than many rivals ask for.

Cons: The domain is free for one year only. The .com renews at $21.99 a year from year two. The hosting renewal is roughly four times the intro rate.

Who it suits

DreamHost suits site owners who value independence and want privacy included from day one. It works well for a first site on a yearly commitment. Budget about $22 a year for the domain from year two.

5. HostGator: room for many sites, with a cancellation fee

HostGator is a broad generalist. Its shared plans are built around how many sites you run. The domain terms deserve a careful read.

What the free domain covers

You get one free domain registration for the first year. You need a 12, 24 or 36-month Shared, WordPress or Cloud plan. The offer only applies to domains available at signup, and only to the initial term.

After year one, the domain renews at the regular rate, which HostGator lists as $22.99 a year for a .com. If you cancel hosting within the first year, a non-refundable $17.99 domain fee applies. The offer can't be combined with other promotions.

Plans and pricing

Hatchling covers 10 websites with 10 GB of SSD storage. Baby covers 20 websites and 20 GB. Business covers 50 websites and 50 GB, and Pro covers 100 websites and 100 GB.

Hatchling costs $3.75/mo on the 36-month term and renews at $10.99/mo. Baby costs $4.50/mo and renews at $16.49/mo. Business and Pro add free domain privacy for the first year.

Strengths and trade-offs

Pros: The plan ladder is wide, from 10 sites up to 100. The free domain works across Shared, WordPress and Cloud plans. Multi-year terms are available.

Cons: The free domain covers year one only. Leaving early triggers the $17.99 fee. Privacy isn't listed on the two lower tiers.

Who it suits

HostGator suits owners who plan to run several sites and want clear tiers by site count. Read the cancellation terms before you buy. They matter more than the headline "free."

6. IONOS: big storage and a lifetime offer on email only

IONOS leads with very low teaser pricing. The hosting plans come with large NVMe storage. The word "lifetime" appears on its free-domain page, but not for hosting.

What the free domain covers

Hosting and website plans include a free domain "for 1 year." One domain per plan is covered. Eligible extensions include .com, .net, .org, .us, .ca, .info, .me, .biz and .online.

The "free domain for lifetime" wording applies to its Mail Basic email plans only. That's a different product from hosting. IONOS's domain price list shows a .com renewing at $20 a year. The page doesn't say whether privacy is included.

Plans and pricing

On a 1-year term, Essential costs $4/mo and renews at $8/mo, with 100 GB of NVMe. Starter costs $6/mo and renews at $10/mo, with 200 GB. Plus shows $1/mo and renews at $14/mo, with 350 GB.

Ultimate costs $10/mo and renews at $18/mo, with 500 GB. A 30-day money-back guarantee applies.

Strengths and trade-offs

Pros: Storage allowances are generous at every tier. Starter, Plus and Ultimate include a CDN. The intro prices are among the lowest here.

Cons: The domain is free for one year only. The Plus plan's $1 teaser renews at $14, a wide gap. A .com renews at $20 a year, and privacy terms aren't spelled out on the page.

Who it suits

IONOS suits buyers who want lots of storage for a low starting price. Read the renewal line before you commit. If you only need email on your own domain, its email plans are worth a look.

7. GoDaddy: the household name with a first-year domain

GoDaddy started as a domain company, and many owners already manage names there. Its hosting plans mark the free domain with an asterisk, and the terms sit in the product disclaimers.

What the free domain covers

Economy, Hosting for WordPress Basic, Deluxe and Ultimate are marked "Free domain." The footnote says the offer needs a new annual plan or longer and applies only to the first year. After that, the domain renews at GoDaddy's then-current renewal price.

An ICANN fee of $0.20 per domain per year applies on top. You also have to add the domain to your cart before you pay to qualify.

Plans and pricing

Economy costs $5.99/mo for the first 3-year term and includes one website with 25 GB of NVMe. Deluxe costs $7.99/mo, with 10 websites and 50 GB. Ultimate costs $12.99/mo, with 25 websites and 75 GB.

The page doesn't label a renewal price. Each plan carries a 30-day money-back guarantee.

Strengths and trade-offs

Pros: NVMe storage comes on every tier. SSL is included, and the brand is well known. The 30-day guarantee gives you a window to test.

Cons: The domain is free for the first year only, and the terms sit in a footnote. Intro prices are higher than most hosts here. SSL on Economy is free for the first year only.

Who it suits

GoDaddy suits owners who already manage their domains there and like one familiar dashboard. Check the domain's renewal price in your cart. Then decide with the real numbers in front of you.

The bottom line: pick by how long you plan to stay

If you want your domain free for life, Flashcloud is the only host here that offers it. You keep the domain registered in your name, with privacy included, and renewal costs nothing while hosting is active. You also get a free starter website built by a person.

If you want a familiar brand and don't mind a first-year offer, Bluehost, DreamHost or HostGator will do the job. Put the first renewal date in your calendar.

If storage and a low starting price come first, look at IONOS or Hostinger. Budget for the domain from year two. If you already use GoDaddy, check the domain renewal price in your cart before you buy.

Whichever host you choose, read the renewal line next to the intro price. It's the number you'll live with.

Ready to stop paying for your domain every year? Start with Flashcloud's Start plan on an annual term, and your domain is free from day one. If it isn't the right fit, the anytime money-back guarantee refunds your unused hosting time.

Flashcloud plan and domain details were checked on our own pricing and domains pages in November 2026. Competitor prices and terms come from each provider's own pages, checked November 2026.
