The fastest way to move a site from Namecheap to Flashcloud is our Free Transfer service: submit the form from the portal, and our team copies everything over while your Namecheap site stays live and serving visitors. Namecheap sells domains and hosting as separate products, so the move usually has two parts: the domain (which can point to us) and the hosting account (files, database, email) which needs to actually move.
You don't need to touch your Namecheap hosting account yourself beyond gathering login details. Below is what to hand over, what happens to your domain, and how to avoid paying for hosting twice during the switch.
What to share for the transfer
Sign in to portal.flashcloud.com, open Free Transfer in the sidebar, and fill in:
- Destination domain: the domain or hosting service on your Flashcloud account this site should move into.
- Current provider: Namecheap.
- Panel URL, username, and password: this is your hosting control panel login, not your Namecheap.com account login. Those are two different logins. If you're not sure which one you have, check the welcome email Namecheap sent when you signed up for hosting, or note that in the form and our team will sort it out.
- Notes: mention if the site uses a non-default database name, a staging subdomain to skip, or anything else that might trip up an automated copy.
The credentials are sent directly to our engineers via the support ticket the form creates, not a general inbox. Once the migration is confirmed done, change that Namecheap password. Full details on how we handle credentials during a transfer are in Requesting your Free Transfer, step by step.
What stays live during the move
Namecheap keeps serving the live site the entire time our team pulls files, the database, and email (where applicable) onto Flashcloud. The site stays live and reachable while the copy happens; DNS or nameserver changes only point traffic here once the migration is ready.
Domain: point it here, or move it here
If your domain is registered at Namecheap and you want to keep it there, you don't have to do anything with the registration. Update the nameservers at Namecheap to point to Flashcloud once your migrated site is ready, and DNS records for the site live in our DNS Zone Editor under your hosting service in the portal.
If you'd rather move the domain itself to Flashcloud, use Marketplace → Domains → Transfer one in. Type the domain, check eligibility in the portal, and follow the transfer steps that appear. A completed transfer adds a free year to whatever registration time is left and includes WHOIS privacy.
Either approach works. Pointing nameservers gets the site live here sooner; transferring the domain consolidates billing and renewal under one account.
Don't pay for hosting twice
If you prepaid for a term at Namecheap and you're switching before it runs out, that unused time isn't necessarily wasted. See Migration credit for unused hosting time and ask our team whether credit is available. This is separate from the free transfer itself, so you can use both.
Moving from Wix, Squarespace, or Shopify instead?
If your Namecheap-registered domain currently points at a website builder rather than Namecheap's own hosting, the mechanics are different: there's no file/database copy, because those platforms don't give you portable site files the way cPanel hosting does. In that case, the practical move is to rebuild on Flashcloud and repoint the domain when the new site is ready, rather than a like-for-like migration. When to open a ticket
If the Namecheap hosting panel doesn't accept the login you have, or if the site includes something unusual like a custom app outside the normal file/database structure, open a ticket from the portal. A real person picks it up, and if you need to hand over anything sensitive beyond what the Free Transfer form covers, ask for the secure share link rather than pasting it into a ticket reply.
