Weebly does not give you a clean file and database export the way WordPress or a standard cPanel site does. It is a closed, drag-and-drop platform, so the fastest real path off it is our Free Transfer: submit your current login and we rebuild the site on a real hosting stack instead of trying to unzip a Weebly export that was never meant to leave Weebly.
The short version: request the transfer from the portal, keep your Weebly site live until we confirm the move, then point your domain here. The details below cover what to hand over, what "moving" actually means for a Weebly site, and how to handle the domain and email.
Why Weebly is different from a normal migration
Most hosting migrations move files and a database from one server to another. Weebly does not work that way. Pages are stored in Weebly's proprietary format and rendered by their platform, there is no phpMyAdmin or file manager to pull a backup from, and Weebly's own export tool (where available on your plan) gives you a generic HTML/CSS dump, not a portable copy of the interactive site you built.
In practice this means a Weebly "migration" is closer to a rebuild than a copy. When you request the Free Transfer, tell the specialist in the notes field that the source is Weebly. They will look at what your plan allows to export, and where the export is not usable, they will rebuild the site's structure, pages, and content on our end so the result looks and works the same. If you would rather start over with a fresh build instead of a recreation, see our setup checklist for what's available with any active hosting or domain.
What to submit with your transfer request
Open Free Transfer in the portal sidebar and fill in the destination domain, current provider (Weebly), and the login details for your Weebly account in the panel URL, username, and password fields. Add notes covering anything that will not carry over automatically:
- Any Weebly apps or third-party embeds (booking widgets, store plugins) so we know what needs a replacement on the new site.
- Whether you're using Weebly's built-in store, since ecommerce catalogs and order history need to be handled deliberately rather than assumed to transfer.
- Custom code you added through Weebly's code-editing blocks, if any.
Do not paste your Weebly password directly into a public form field if you can avoid it. Submit the rest of the request and note that you'll send credentials separately, or use the secure share panel once your ticket is open.
Domain and DNS
If Weebly is also your registrar, or if Weebly is just hosting a domain registered elsewhere, that is a separate step from moving the site content. Once the specialist confirms your rebuilt site is ready on a preview link, you either point your domain's nameservers here or, if you are moving registration too, use the Domains section in the portal to start a transfer. Either way, your Weebly site keeps serving visitors right up until you make that switch.
If you paid Weebly in advance for a plan you are no longer using, check whether that unused time is worth claiming back. See migration credit for unused hosting time for what we need to apply a credit.
Email on a Weebly domain
If you're using Weebly's paired email service or a third-party mailbox tied to your domain, plan that switch separately from the site move so you don't lose incoming mail mid-transfer. Set up your new mailboxes on Flashcloud first, confirm they're receiving mail, and only then update your domain's MX records once the site itself is live and confirmed.
Wix and Squarespace: the same idea, different export limits
Moving off Wix or Squarespace hits the same core problem as Weebly: closed platforms with no portable file/database export. The process is identical: submit a Free Transfer request, name the source platform in the notes, and let the specialist tell you what's exportable versus what needs to be rebuilt. Export options vary by platform and plan, so a rebuild is often the norm. If you're on Shopify, the underlying store platform doesn't move to standard hosting the way a WordPress or static site does, so mention it specifically in your transfer notes so the specialist scopes it correctly.
When to contact support
If your Weebly plan is expiring soon and you're worried about losing access before the transfer finishes, open a ticket through Support in the portal and flag the timeline. The same goes for anything unusual on your current plan, like a Weebly store with active orders or a custom domain email setup you don't want interrupted. A real person will look at your specific case before anything moves.
