To move a domain from SiteGround to us, unlock it and grab the EPP code from SiteGround first, then start the transfer from our side at Marketplace > Domains > Transfer one in. Type the full domain, click Check eligibility, and follow the steps from there. A free year gets added to the domain's remaining registration and WHOIS privacy is included at no charge.
Step 1: unlock the domain at SiteGround
Sign in to your SiteGround account and find the domain's settings. Look for an unlock or transfer-lock toggle and turn it off - exact labels vary by registrar, but every registrar has some version of this lock to block unauthorized transfers, and turning it off is instant and reversible.
The mechanics are identical to what you'd do unlocking a domain for transfer anywhere else: find the lock setting, disable it, confirm it shows as unlocked before moving on.
Step 2: get the EPP code from SiteGround
In the same domain settings area, look for an EPP code, authorization code, or transfer code option. If the domain has WHOIS privacy enabled at SiteGround, the code still goes to your real contact email on file, not a masked address.
Step 3: confirm the domain is eligible
A transfer will fail or get rejected if any of these apply:
- The domain was registered or transferred too recently - most registries enforce a waiting period after registration or a prior transfer.
- It's within about two weeks of expiring at SiteGround. Renew it there first if so, or the transfer may not finish before it lapses.
- The WHOIS contact email is one you don't actually check. Confirmation messages go there, and losing them stalls the transfer.
Step 4: start the transfer with us
Sign in to portal.flashcloud.com and go to Marketplace > Domains > Transfer one in (also reachable from the Domains section as "Transfer"). Type the full domain name and click Check eligibility. If it passes, follow the prompts; keep the EPP code you pulled from SiteGround handy, since every registrar transfer needs it.
Once it completes, a free year is added on top of whatever time was left on the registration, and WHOIS privacy is turned on for the domain at no extra cost. For the parts of the process that happen after submission, the general transfer flow we document for transfers going the other direction covers the same underlying mechanics: registry confirmation, then an approval or waiting period before it completes.
DNS: don't let it go dark
If SiteGround is also hosting your DNS records (not just the domain), those records stop being authoritative once the transfer finishes. Set up your DNS at Flashcloud before the transfer completes, not after. If you're moving hosting to us too, point the domain at our nameservers as described in pointing your domain to your hosting account. If you're keeping hosting elsewhere and just moving the domain registration, recreate the same A, CNAME, and MX records at whichever DNS provider you're using going forward before you kick off the transfer.
If SiteGround won't unlock it or send the code
Contact SiteGround support directly and ask them to unlock the domain and release the EPP code.
When to contact support
If Check eligibility rejects the domain for a reason that doesn't match anything above, or the transfer request goes out but stalls with no confirmation email after a day or two, open a ticket from Support in the portal. It reaches a real person, not a bot, who can look into it.
