To use Gmail with your domain, forward incoming mail to Gmail with a cPanel forwarder, then add a "Send As" alias in Gmail using your mailbox's SMTP settings so replies go out as you@yourdomain.com. Both pieces are independent: you can do one without the other, but most people want both so the whole conversation, in and out, happens from Gmail.
Receiving: forward your domain email to Gmail
The simplest way to receive domain mail in Gmail is a forwarder, not a full migration. Log in to cPanel (Services → your hosting → one-click login → cPanel) and open Forwarders under the Email section. Add a forwarder for the address you want to forward (for example you@yourdomain.com), and set the destination to your Gmail address. Every message that arrives at that mailbox gets copied to Gmail automatically.
A forwarder doesn't delete the copy on your Flashcloud mailbox by default, so you can still log in to webmail if needed. If you'd rather pull mail into Gmail directly instead of forwarding, Gmail supports adding another account under Settings → Accounts and Import → "Check mail from other accounts," using your mailbox server, username, and password. Since downloading mail this way can remove it from the server depending on the option you choose, use a forwarder instead if you also check mail elsewhere, since it doesn't touch the original inbox the same way.
Sending: add a "Send As" alias in Gmail
To send mail that shows your domain address instead of your Gmail address, go to Gmail Settings → Accounts and Import → "Send mail as" → Add another email address. Enter your name and the full address, then on the next screen fill in the SMTP details:
- SMTP Server: your mailbox's mail server address (the incoming and outgoing server shown in your mailbox's connection settings)
- Port:
465with SSL, or587with TLS - Username: the full email address, e.g.
you@yourdomain.com - Password: the mailbox password (not your portal password)
Gmail sends a verification email to confirm you control the address. Once confirmed, you can set it as your default "from" address, or leave it as an option you pick per message. If the connection fails or authentication is rejected, the troubleshooting steps are identical to any other mail client: see why can't I send email? for the full flow on ports, credentials, and common connection errors.
Replying from the right address automatically
If you want replies to threads that arrived via forwarding to automatically use your domain address instead of Gmail's, check "Reply from the same address the message was sent to" under Settings → Accounts and Import. Without this, Gmail defaults to your primary address on replies even when the original message came in through your forwarder.
Keeping deliverability intact
Sending through Gmail's SMTP with your domain's credentials doesn't change your domain's SPF or DKIM setup, since you're authenticating directly against your mail server, not Gmail's. If messages sent this way start landing in recipients' spam folders, check checking SPF and DKIM with the Email Deliverability tool in cPanel to confirm both records are still valid. Bulk-mail rules from Gmail and Yahoo also enforce alignment on your DMARC record, so review DMARC: setup, policies, and the Gmail/Yahoo rules if you plan to move past the default monitoring-only policy.
Choosing forwarding vs. full migration
Forwarding plus Send As covers the common case: reading and writing domain email from Gmail's interface without changing where the mailbox actually lives. Your Flashcloud mailbox stays the system of record, accessible through webmail or any other client, and forwarding adds a second window into it. If you actually want Google to host the mailbox itself (Google Workspace), that's a different setup involving MX record changes, and it removes mail from your Flashcloud hosting entirely. Most people asking to "use Gmail with their domain" want the forwarder approach, not a full Workspace migration.
When to contact support
If forwarded mail isn't arriving, or Gmail rejects the SMTP credentials after you've confirmed the password is correct, open a ticket from Support in the portal. Include the forwarder address and roughly when you set it up, since a real person can check mail server logs to see whether messages are being forwarded, bounced, or blocked before they reach Gmail.
