You can pay for hosting monthly, annually, or for several years at once. Annual and longer cycles get discounts; monthly is more flexible. Pick what fits your situation.
Available cycles
Most hosting plans offer:
- Monthly — full price each month, easy to cancel.
- Quarterly (every 3 months) — small discount.
- Semi-annually (every 6 months) — moderate discount.
- Annually — largest discount, typical 15-25% off vs monthly.
- Biennially (2 years) and Triennially (3 years) — additional discount.
The exact discount per cycle is shown on the order form when you pick a plan.
Domain renewals follow registry-set durations (typically 1-10 years).
Pros of monthly
- Flexibility — cancel any time without forfeiting much.
- Try before committing — useful if you're not sure the plan fits.
- Smaller upfront cost — pay $10/month rather than $100/year.
Pros of annual+
- Lower per-month cost — typical savings 15-25% vs monthly.
- Less invoice handling — one bill per year, not 12.
- Lock in price — if our pricing changes, you pay your locked rate until renewal.
- Free domain bundles often require annual.
For most users who plan to keep their hosting more than a few months, annual is the better deal.
Switching cycles
You can switch a service's billing cycle at the next renewal:
- Open a ticket with billing.
- Tell us which service and the cycle you want.
- We update the renewal terms.
Or as part of an upgrade — when you upgrade a plan, the order form lets you pick a new cycle for the new plan.
Mid-cycle changes
If you're on monthly and want to switch to annual mid-cycle, we can prorate. Open a ticket; the math is roughly:
- We credit the unused portion of your current monthly cycle.
- We charge for the annual at the discounted rate.
- The difference is what hits your card today.
Annual + auto-renew
If you have annual billing with auto-renew, we charge the annual amount once a year. No surprises:
- You'll get a renewal-reminder email 30 days before.
- Auto-charge happens on the renewal date.
- Your service runs another year.
You can change the cycle at the renewal point (open a ticket before the renewal).
Cancelling on annual
If you cancel partway through an annual cycle, you typically don't get a refund for the unused months — you've used the service through that point.
Exception: the 30-day money-back guarantee. If you cancel within 30 days of the initial annual purchase, the entire amount refunds. After 30 days, no refund on annual cancellation.
For annual cancellation, set the cancellation to "End of billing period" — the service runs out the rest of your prepaid year and doesn't renew. You don't lose money this way.
Can I pay more than 3 years upfront?
For some plans, yes — biennial (2 years) and triennial (3 years) cycles are available on the order form.
For longer (5 years, 10 years), open a ticket with billing. Custom multi-year contracts are available for enterprise customers; we'll quote pricing.
Power-user note
For frequently-changing plans (you're growing fast and might upgrade soon), monthly is sometimes better despite the higher per-month cost — it's easier to upgrade without prorating math, and you don't have prepaid time on a plan you've outgrown.
For stable plans where you know what you need, annual or longer is the clear winner economically.
