Go to Free Transfer in the portal sidebar, fill in your domain and your Bluehost cPanel login, and submit. A migration specialist copies your files, database, and email over while your Bluehost site keeps serving visitors.
The rest of this article covers what to hand over, how long it takes, and what happens to any time you've already paid for at Bluehost.
What to send us
Bluehost accounts run on cPanel, so the transfer is usually straightforward. In the Free Transfer form, set current provider to Bluehost and give us:
- Your Bluehost control panel URL, username, and password. The full steps for the form itself are in Requesting your Free Transfer, step by step.
- The domain you want to move, so we know which hosting or domain slot on your Flashcloud account it should land in.
- Anything unusual in the notes field: a staging subdomain to skip, a custom database name, or a plugin that misbehaves after a server move.
What actually moves
A specialist pulls your site files, your WordPress or MySQL database, and your email if you're moving it too, and rebuilds them on your Flashcloud service. Your old site stays live at Bluehost while the copy happens. Once it's done, our team lets you know.
DNS: the actual cutover
Moving the files is not the same as going live. Your domain still points at Bluehost's nameservers until you change them. If your domain is registered elsewhere, log in to that registrar and update the nameservers to Flashcloud's. If your domain is already on your Flashcloud account, nameserver changes happen under Domains → your domain → DNS in the portal, which controls nameservers only (up to five). Individual DNS records like MX or CNAME entries for a hosted site are edited separately, under Services → your hosting → DNS Zone Editor.
DNS changes propagate over a period of hours as caches around the internet expire, not instantly. Keep your Bluehost hosting active until you've confirmed the site is fully live and stable on Flashcloud, in case you need to roll back.
Paid time left on Bluehost
If you prepaid for months or a year at Bluehost that you won't use, that's not automatically lost. We can credit unused time toward your Flashcloud account. This is separate from the free transfer itself: the transfer moves your site at no charge, and the credit offsets what you already paid elsewhere. See Migration credit for unused hosting time for what to send and how it's applied.
Moving from Wix, Squarespace, or Shopify instead?
Everything above assumes a cPanel-based host like Bluehost, where we can pull files and a database directly. Wix, Squarespace, and Shopify are closed platforms: there's no file system or database to copy, so the mechanics are different. In those cases, mention the platform in your Free Transfer request notes, and a specialist will tell you what's actually portable (content, product data, images) versus what has to be rebuilt on the new host. The same rule applies either way: your existing site keeps running until the new one is ready.
When to open a ticket
If the migration form asks for something you can't find in your Bluehost account, or your site uses something unusual (a custom script, a non-WordPress CMS, a large database), open a ticket through Support in the portal and describe what you're working with. Real people, real support. The same goes for questions about how much of your Bluehost time qualifies for a credit. If you're already mid-transfer and something looks off, reply on that same ticket rather than starting a new one, so the specialist who already has context sees it first.
