Use Free Transfer in the portal sidebar. Pick your Flashcloud destination, enter InMotion as your current provider, and hand over your InMotion cPanel URL, username, and password. Our team copies your files, databases, and email over while your InMotion site keeps serving visitors.
The tricky parts of most cPanel-to-cPanel moves are account structure and DNS, not the transfer itself.
What to gather from InMotion first
Log in to your InMotion Account Management Panel (AMP) and find the cPanel link for the hosting account you're moving. If you don't have a saved cPanel password, reset it from AMP before you start so you're not blocked waiting on InMotion support.
- cPanel URL, username, password: this is what the Free Transfer form asks for. It's usually something like
yourdomain.com:2083or an InMotion-assigned hostname. - Account type: InMotion's Business/VPS plans sometimes host multiple domains under one cPanel as addon domains. List every domain and subdomain that needs to move, not just the primary one, in the form's notes field.
- Email boxes: if you have live mailboxes on InMotion, note them. Migration can bundle email, or you can move it separately and control the cutover timing yourself, which is covered in a separate article on moving email between providers.
If you'd rather not paste your InMotion password directly into the form, open a support ticket first and use the "Send a password (the safe way)" secure-share panel, which self-destructs the credentials after 1-30 days.
What happens after you submit
Our migration team starts pulling your site's files and database from InMotion's cPanel into your Flashcloud service. Your domain's DNS still points at InMotion during this, so visitors and email keep working exactly as before.
Only after the copy is confirmed complete does anything point to Flashcloud. When you're ready to switch, DNS records for your hosting are edited under Services → DNS Zone Editor, and nameserver changes are made under Domains → DNS, whether you manage it yourself or InMotion is also your registrar and nameserver host.
Don't cancel InMotion yet
Leave your InMotion account active until you've confirmed the site is fully live and stable on Flashcloud, DNS has propagated, and email (if you moved it) is flowing correctly. Moving from a builder instead of cPanel
Everything above assumes a standard cPanel-hosted site. If what you're actually moving is a Wix, Squarespace, or Shopify site rather than a traditional InMotion cPanel account, the mechanics are different: those platforms don't expose files or a database to migrate the same way, and moving off them usually means rebuilding on new infrastructure rather than copying files. Free Transfer still applies once you have something to host, including a free domain with hosting if you need one, but the platform-specific export or rebuild steps come first.
When to contact support
If InMotion won't hand over cPanel access for any reason, or if anything about the migration doesn't match your live site, open a ticket from the portal. It goes to a real person, not a queue script, and they can adjust the approach for whatever InMotion is doing on their end.
