GETTING STARTED

What runs underneath your hosting

The short version: enterprise hardware, multiple datacenters, redundant networking, and the same caching stack big WordPress hosts charge a lot of money for.

Hardware

  • NVMe SSD storage across the board — no spinning disks, no SATA SSDs. NVMe is meaningfully faster for the random-read patterns hosting workloads produce.
  • Modern Intel and AMD processors — recent generations with high single-core performance, which matters more than core count for typical web hosting.
  • ECC RAM — error-correcting memory on every shared and WordPress hosting server. Catches single-bit memory errors that would silently corrupt data on consumer hardware.
  • Redundant networking — every server has multiple uplinks; if one path fails, traffic reroutes automatically.

Datacenters

We host across four locations to keep latency low for visitors anywhere in the world:

  • New Jersey, US (East Coast)
  • Seattle, US (West Coast)
  • Frankfurt, Germany (Europe)
  • Singapore (Asia)

When you order hosting, you pick the datacenter closest to your visitors. We default to the nearest match based on your IP at signup, but the choice is yours.

Web server

We run LiteSpeed Web Server rather than the more common nginx + PHP-FPM combination. On WordPress workloads in particular, LiteSpeed is significantly faster — lower memory usage per request, native PHP handling, and built-in full-page caching via LSCache.

For details on our caching stack, see The cache stack we ship with every WordPress install.

Network and DNS

  • Cloudflare for shared/WordPress hosting DNS — anycast routing worldwide, DDoS protection at the DNS layer.
  • Per-server DNS namespace for VPS and dedicated servers — ns1.vmXXX.flashcloud.host and ns2.vmXXX.flashcloud.host.
  • See Our nameservers and DNS provider for the full picture.

Security

Every layer has its own protections:

  • Network: DDoS scrubbing at the edge, rate-limiting on common abuse patterns.
  • Server: hardened SSH config, intrusion detection, automatic security patching.
  • Application: ImunifyAV malware scanning, ModSecurity rules in front of every web request.
  • Data: encrypted backups, encrypted database storage on disk.

For the customer-facing security overview, see Our security at a glance.

Backups

  • Daily automatic backups for shared and WordPress hosting (JetBackup-powered, 30-day retention).
  • Weekly snapshots for VPS, with optional manual snapshots on demand.
  • Backups stored on separate infrastructure — not on the same disk as your live data.
  • Restorable from the portal in a few clicks. See Our backup options.

Uptime

We target 99.9% uptime across our hosting. Real measured numbers over the last year have run above that, but planned maintenance happens — we announce it ahead of time.

For real-time status, see status.flashcloud.com.

Why this matters

Most "hosting is hosting" claims fall apart the moment your site catches a traffic spike or hits a heavy database query. The infrastructure choices above are why:

  • Cached pages serve in milliseconds (LiteSpeed + LSCache + Redis).
  • Static assets serve from the nearest edge (Cloudflare).
  • Database queries are fast (NVMe + ECC + recent CPUs).
  • Errors get caught (ECC RAM, ModSecurity, malware scanning).

You don't have to think about any of this. We do.
