If you're looking for a "downgrade" button next to Upgrade plan on your service page, it isn't there. The portal's self-service action is upgrade-only. To move to a smaller plan, open a ticket from Support in the portal and our team will handle the switch.
This isn't an oversight. Downgrades touch things a one-click flow can't safely check on its own: whether your current disk usage or addon domains actually fit inside the smaller plan's limits. A human needs to look before the switch happens, not after your site breaks.
Why there's no self-service downgrade
An upgrade is safe to automate because a bigger plan is a superset of a smaller one: more disk, more resources, nothing that was working before stops working. A downgrade is the opposite. If you're currently using more disk space than the smaller plan allows, or you have more addon domains than it supports, dropping straight into it would leave your account over its own limits.
That's the reason it routes through a ticket instead of a button: someone needs to check your account against the new plan's limits before the change goes through.
How to request a downgrade
- Sign in to the portal and open Support in the sidebar.
- Click New ticket.
- Tell them which service you want to downgrade and which plan you want to move to.
- Support reviews your current usage against the new plan's limits and lets you know if anything needs to change first.
- Once you're clear, they process the downgrade and confirm when it's live.
If you're not sure what plan actually fits your site, mention that in the ticket too. It's worth checking your current numbers first: see Checking your hosting resource usage for where to find disk, bandwidth, and process usage in the portal.
What happens to billing
A downgrade changes what you're charged going forward, not what you already paid. If you're mid-term on a prepaid cycle, ask support how the switch is timed relative to your renewal date so you're not paying for two tiers of service at once. Your service page shows your billing cycle and next due date. If you're unsure what the new plan will cost long-term, see why your renewal price may be higher than your intro price.
If a smaller plan genuinely doesn't fit what you need anymore, and you'd rather stop the service outright instead of downgrading, that's a different flow: see Cancelling a service. Refunds are handled under our refund policy.
When to contact support
Any downgrade goes through a ticket, so there's no self-service path to skip. Open Support in the portal with your service name and target plan, and mention if you're on a time constraint (for example, wanting the change to land right at renewal). Support handles the usage check and the switch from there, and you'll hear back from a real person, not an automated queue.
