Missing a renewal date doesn't switch anything off right away. Flashcloud gives you a grace window first before suspending the service. If you catch it in that window, paying the open invoice from Billing restores service.
The exact mechanics depend on whether it's hosting or a domain, since domains involve a registry and hosting doesn't.
Hosting: the renewal timeline
When a hosting invoice comes due, we attempt to charge your card on file. If that fails, the sequence described in What happens when a payment fails? kicks in before suspension. A suspended site stops loading for visitors.
If the invoice stays unpaid past that point, the account moves toward termination. Once a service is queued for deletion, recovery gets harder and eventually impossible.
To bring a suspended service back:
- Open
Billingin the portal and confirm the card on file is current (Account → Payment methods if it needs updating). - Pay the open invoice. Suspension typically lifts automatically once the charge clears.
- If the site still isn't loading after payment confirms, open a support ticket describing the issue.
Domains: a different clock
Domain non-renewal runs on the registry's clock, not ours. After the expiration date, some registries allow a period to renew before the domain is released, though this varies by TLD. Past it, the domain drops and becomes available for anyone to register.
Before you get anywhere near that: check Auto-renew on the domain's card in the portal. If it's off, turn it on so this doesn't recur. If the domain has already expired, renew it as soon as possible from the same domain page.
Why this differs from a refund situation
Non-renewal isn't the same question as canceling and asking for money back. If you're deciding whether to let something lapse versus actively canceling it, the money side is covered separately in Our refund policy. And if you're switching providers rather than lapsing by accident, you may be able to recover unused time from your old host too: see Migration credit for unused hosting time.
If the renewal failure was really a billing cycle mismatch, for example you meant to be on annual but got caught on a monthly charge, Monthly vs annual billing cycles covers how to switch cycles so it doesn't happen again.
How to avoid this next time
- Keep a valid card on file and set it as default under Account → Payment methods.
- Turn on auto-renew for each domain you want protected.
When to contact support
If a service was suspended and payment didn't restore it automatically, or a domain shows as expired and you're not sure how much time is left, open a ticket from the portal. Support is real humans, not a bot.
